Jeg forstår ikke..

so... in the fancy world of iphones.. i thought id find some (free) apps to help me learn some danish on the go.

of course, they give you a couple lists to work from, and then you have to purchase the rest.
the first one i installed came with "fruits" and "weather".  simple enough, really.
however, the remaining lists will cost me $5.99.  i dont think so!
not when there is free material out there..

the second one is more... shall we say.. interesting..  it also comes with two lists, but the remaining ones are only $0.99!  sounds like a deal right?  well, i may just have to get them to see how the rest go..
the first list is "essentials" which is just that.  your hellos and goodbyes and how are yous and where is this.
standard stuff.  essential.
the other list is "flirting".. can any of you danes tell me if this is *really* what i need to know about flirting in Denmark?

dolphin trainer?  really?  does that work?
who doesn't like puppies... but come on..
and i like a hard massage?  what sort of date am i going for here??
the grand finale.  one never knows.. maybe stalking is big over there..

as a side note, i know you are jealous of my sparkly phone case.  even if it IS missing 3 sparklies now...

jeg taler lidt dansk...

This is what my afternoon was yesterday... and tonight will be much of the same..

Short long days

I dont know where they go.. but at the time, these days seem to drag. But, I have no time!

The trains were down this morning, so it took me ages to get to work.

I did get some good news that my manager might be off on vacation/sabatical for alot of my remaining time at work. I hope that works out for both of us! We shall see. There is also the potential that she is applying for another position in the company. I hope she does and gets it, cause she wont be anywhere near me then. *dreamdreamdream*

The craft shop is only open from 10-5:30 during the week, so I can never go. I need more glass thingers to make more magnets. I've been searching them online but cant find anyone in Canada with them. Arg.

I have a flight credit to use up with Northwest Airlines, but no one to tell me when to go anywhere. I want to go to Calgary at xmas, then hit Toronto for New years, then New York, then Florida, and drive from there to Seattle, through Texas and California. But the girl in Florida moving wont get back to me, and probably cant commit to when she can leave Florida to move. I need to make travel plans soon. So maybe I fly some of those places, and not drive with her.

I also have a friend who wants me to come to Maui in Feb with her. I would like that alot. Time from work? Maybe not so much.

I could put the credit towards my flight when I move. But, I dont know when that is. I cant get a floating ticket. I dont think anyways. I'll ask.

What to do, what to do.

I'll sleep on it. Yes. I have danish homework too. I practice lots of what Ive learned in my head when I walk. So at least I will be able to read it. Speaking and understanding might be harder.

Jeg tale lidt dansk

I just finished up my first danish lesson with Julia! Or rather Lektion et.

Jeg Hedder Corey.
Jeg kommer fra Canada.
Jeg tale engeslk og lidt dansk.

Hvad med dig?

I also had to listen to 'Smuk Som Et Stjerneskud' by the Olsen Brothers. It's some song that Denmark won for, in some contest. I don't know. I just know that I had to listen for the words 'stjerneskud' and 'kærlighed' and count how many times they were each said. I was one off on both.

I'm sure you have your own opinions about the song Amalie.. but I think its funny. In a lame way. It was also the first Danish song I've ever listened to.

Now, it's off to Reliable to pick up ammo for shotguns! I'm going to go blast up a dresser I've had since before I was born. It's been with me for 30 years now, so I can't really give it to anyone. I need to take it out. And what better way than blowing it to smithereens! Plus I won't be able to go shooting overseas anymore, so get it in now!

After bullet shopping, I'll be at work for a few hours, then off to the woods. Pictures of the dresser's demise to follow!!

(I've taken pretty much all the stickers off of it now, but you'll see...)

Aktivt Dansk

Julia sent me the audio parts that go along with my workbook. We are going to try to connect on Skype this weekend for my first Danish lesson with her. Should be interesting. I havent actually spoken to her (besides internet) for two years since I met her during my trip to Switzerland.

I imagine we will chatter more than anything else, but at least its step one.

The people in the audio talk very fast. Can't they talk slower for us learners??

Le sigh.

1-2-3 go!

Yes, its triple post day. I just looked back at my old blog, and it appears that I started that on Aug 1, 2004. Kind of fitting that I start this one pretty much 4 years later.

I think what I will enjoy most about this one, is that no one really knows about it. I only know about 5 people who blog here, so that works for me. Something I didnt enjoy about my last one, was that if I were ever upset about something someone did, I couldnt always write about it, as they could read it or find out. And since this is meant to somewhat be my 'diary', I think its better that no one really knows.. for now anyways..

Just finished watching Howl's Moving Castle. Curled up on the couch, warm blanket and dinner. It's only 11 but I'll probably go to sleep soon anyways. Maybe i'll attack the storage closet tomorrow...

I also copied out all of the Danish vocabulary that my bedstemor gave me when I visited her. Its from over a year ago, as my example of age was 28. Yikes! I really need to get on this!!
