Iron Man!

Just got home from a Siggraph presentation of iron man. It was mostly for visual and rendering artists.. the sort that make computer generated stuff in movies and on tv, or make video games. But it was still interesting, even if I dont have a clue what any of the programs they used are...

For instance, (**if you havent seen iron man, and hate hearing about it, stop reading now**)

you know the part when he is flying to go blow up the weapons in the town of gulmira? And he gets shot out of the sky, and hits the ground, climbs out of a hole, and blows the tank up? that is all computer generated. everything with the iron man suit from flying to walking away, even the tank. in fact, the back half of the street where the tank is sitting is even computer generated... and i would never have known! not that i thought about it much... but whatever... very cool what they can do.

makes me almost want to take that up....

I got tickets to this today! Oct 21. Going to go with some friends from work. I'm actually pretty excited.

Convention has been fun-o-rama. Last day today. Hung out a bit, and now Im going to go join some friends at Bushido for the last after party. Met a guy from Montreal who does guest spots in Sweden quite a bit, and also doesnt drink. Nice to find someone else I may run into often in my new end of the world.

Breakfast this morning was good. My grandma looks good for 94, or a least as good as you can look. Then my Mom and I went to see Mamma Mia. Again. And I cried. Again. Fun times. Love that movie. Would love to see the theatre preformance more.

Ok. Im tired. Going out just cause. Driving home all day tomorrow.
I cant wait for my own bed.

It wasn't what i was hoping it would be, but its still super pretty earrings that some friends made me, from Iowa. I'll get pictures later!

And, I am downloading tales from earthsea, as yes, I am compelled to see what its all about, and how bad it actually is. Whether or not i'll have to time watch it is another story.

a week in the life

So, its been a bit hectic for me over the last week. Getting back from the island, work work work, then my Mom has been here. Its been fun but I am ready for a night to myself. But when will this happen? I cant even say...

For now, I will just get you up to speed.

Some pics from last weekend, with the spa (which was marvelous and I want to go back so bad!! If I could be in the ((warm)) water all the time, I would. Did I say that before? I dont even care, I mean it so much that it can be said twice), and the baby and whatnot.









































































A few days back at work had my Mom here in Vancouver to stay with me. Yesterday morning we had breakfast with Shauna and her son, Brodie, who is now 14 months.















After that, we borrowed Kate and Andrew's car and drove all over Vancouver for my Mom's cards. The things you do for Mothers...

Today we hit up Van Dusen Botanical Gardens here in Vancouver. I had no idea that such a huge garden existed in the middle of the city! And I've been here for over 4 years. Go figure.









































































































This afternoon we went to see Mama Mia. Super chick flick. My Mom cried. I cried. It was good. I enjoyed it alot. (I can admit that, I'm ok with it)

Tonight will be relaxing and watch TV/movies. Unfortunately my Mom has legally blonde 2 on right now.. i'll have to do something about that....

Yes, its triple post day. I just looked back at my old blog, and it appears that I started that on Aug 1, 2004. Kind of fitting that I start this one pretty much 4 years later.

I think what I will enjoy most about this one, is that no one really knows about it. I only know about 5 people who blog here, so that works for me. Something I didnt enjoy about my last one, was that if I were ever upset about something someone did, I couldnt always write about it, as they could read it or find out. And since this is meant to somewhat be my 'diary', I think its better that no one really knows.. for now anyways..

Just finished watching Howl's Moving Castle. Curled up on the couch, warm blanket and dinner. It's only 11 but I'll probably go to sleep soon anyways. Maybe i'll attack the storage closet tomorrow...

I also copied out all of the Danish vocabulary that my bedstemor gave me when I visited her. Its from over a year ago, as my example of age was 28. Yikes! I really need to get on this!!
