Iron Man!

Just got home from a Siggraph presentation of iron man. It was mostly for visual and rendering artists.. the sort that make computer generated stuff in movies and on tv, or make video games. But it was still interesting, even if I dont have a clue what any of the programs they used are...

For instance, (**if you havent seen iron man, and hate hearing about it, stop reading now**)

you know the part when he is flying to go blow up the weapons in the town of gulmira? And he gets shot out of the sky, and hits the ground, climbs out of a hole, and blows the tank up? that is all computer generated. everything with the iron man suit from flying to walking away, even the tank. in fact, the back half of the street where the tank is sitting is even computer generated... and i would never have known! not that i thought about it much... but whatever... very cool what they can do.

makes me almost want to take that up....

anywho, off to bed with me. night!

I sometimes wish I'd gone that route after high school. I was exploring my options for post secondary education in that field since my high school had, at the time, a bunch of the best 3D animation software around and I actually knew how to use it fairly well. I could create realistic looking vehicles and objects and was just starting to figure out character animation when I graduated.

I still have an old VHS tape of some of my stuff laying around, but it's 12-13 years old now and last time I had watched it, the tape has aged and the video has darkened.
