as the saying goes...

"poor planning on your part, does not constitute an emergency on my part."

unfortunately, it does.

amidst all of my chaos at work yesterday, planning to reorganize and move 200+ people to new spots in the office and making a futile attempt to have them be happy about where they end up, someone had a last minute flight to be booked.

my wonderful manager, knowing what is on my plate right now, told them to send it to me instead of taking it on herself.

so i finish up with a bulk of the move stuff and get back to my desk at 5:20 pm. 5:21 pm i get an email about this flight that needs to be booked. this is the first i have heard about said flight. the guy needs to travel on monday. our travel agent closes at 5 pm. so i try to book using their online tool. it quits halfway through and will not reopen. so i book it through travelocity and am done with it. (after, of course, running around the office to see if the traveller was still there to tell me what time he wanted to fly at, since i have been given minimal information. i even had to google the event myself to find out what airport he should fly into. honestly)

so today, i check my work email, which i never do on weekends, to see about something that has come up regarding the moves. instead, i find an email from the people arranging the event, saying that the flights are wrong, and he should actually be flying out on tuesday. (i would like to add that the travel days were given to me by marketing, who, when called to be asked how long they had known about this trip ((a few days)) said that they were really busy and forgot to tell me. right. like i am just sitting around doing nothing)

i have now been sitting here, on my saturday, listening to the same crappy muzac on hold with travelocity for almost 27 minutes. im sure it will be much longer yet til i get someone on the line.

needless to say, i am not impressed. i have better things to do with my time. and yes, i could leave this til monday but i cant risk flights not being available or the cost going up more. we will already be paying a change fee for this. arg.

Dude.
People suck.
And so does being on the phone for an hour and a half.
