domestic weekend

after my super fun christmas party friday, of which i still owe you pictures, i just stayed in all weekend and baked and stuff. less of the stuff and more of the baking actually.

it rained all day saturday, so i tried out a recipe for sugar cookies that my sister-in-law sent me, as well as some royal icing sugar icing. that was a first and a messy adventure. but it worked out alright!









today i made a second batch of cookies, (put the right amount of milk in this time) and made my icing red and green!












it started out super gross and rainy today, but then it cleared up.









i went for a walk to pick up some things.
i love that i can find palm trees in this city.












i got food writers!
yes, i get to colour my cookies. so much fun!!
i get to do todays batch tomorrow when it hardens!!!









after all that, i had my first full glass of egg nog. none of the egg nog chai business, just the full on real deal. (i was looking up recipes today Dave, and that is what you could have used your egg yolks for...)

just like old times

when i was little, my mom and i would go and see the nutcracker suite ballet every christmas. i think the last time we went was maybe when i was ten or eleven. i dont even remember. i just remember going and loving it.

i just bought tickets for us to go this year! the seats probably arent great but you have to be able to see or they wouldnt sell them. im so excited! the only downer is that i have to limit what i pack cause i have such a big trip, but i want to bring something nice to go to the theatre in.

i went and got a hat today for my part on friday!

my friend peter came over today to teach me how to actually use my camera, and understand more photography things about it, instead of just point and click. he worked with my mom at the camera store in calgary, so i guess in theory he is her friend and now mine by default. he stayed around to chat for a couple hours after the camera lesson, so it was nice to just chat with someone. i never do that.

i also put up my christmas tree tonight! i got a few more decorations when i was out today. they are all bought and not crafted, but whatever! so excited!!! ill probably pack it all up before i go anyways. maybe bring some of it to my moms cause i wont be setting up christmas in this country again!

i dont get it

please explain to me why a girl who cant be more than 16 or 17, needs to wear these over her jeans to a metallica concert. like, i get that she wants to "look good" and "be sexy" but that is not happening with the rumpled jeans that are bursting out of these... and she'll be standing for the concert i imagine.

are you going to meet your next boyfriend there? dreamy.

dont get me wrong. i love me some old metallica, but ive seen them once, and looking at the crowd that goes here, ill leave it at that.














on an entirely different topic, my shoulder is very tight and ouchie, and hurts when i try to roll over on it. cause im a side sleeper. i cant wait til i can lay on that side of my body again. boo.

philbur is starting to peel/flake. but very very thin light flakes. never had it like this before. seems like a good thing to me so far...

sorry to sound braggy but i am so so so so so so so happy with it!

i loooooooooooove the legs! and the head, but the legs! they were my fav part in the outline too....

so there ya have it! cant wait til its not scaly anymore.
we are going to add one more feather at my elbow in the back where there is a big blank space.. and the feathers beneath is body will be shaded grey and red like the wings.. the back ground will fade from orange around the sunrise to grey and black to make some parts pop more... and the negative space swirly bits will be thickly outlined in a peacock blue.. but left blank.

when sharing backfires

and why facebook is indeed evil.

so, i can understand being excited about news and wanting to share. but maybe thats not always so hot to advertise to everyone you could possibly know and are now friends with on facebook.

im not being overly sarcastic cause i feel bad for my friend.

she announced via her status a few weeks back that she 'had a bun in the oven'. now today it says she 'lost her baby and doesnt want to talk about it'.

i know its nice to share and all, and it is super super tragic that she lost it, but dont showboat then. i think that facebook can be a dangerous tool and you can cripple yourself with it if you arent careful.

just a thought to get out of my head. my two cents.

sneak peek

the bandages are slowly coming off as i move about. i will take them off and go through the wonderful task of scrubbing it later on this afternoon. im going to go out first, and id rather it stay protected. (hurts less when it gets hit when its wrapped).

but here is a peak at the wing on my shoulder. it sucks to get tattooed on the shoulder, just in passing.


















and yes, this is how fat my arm is. it looks like its all wrap and padding, but its mostly my arm. and it will get bigger when i take that lovely restricing bandage off. woo.
