domestic weekend

after my super fun christmas party friday, of which i still owe you pictures, i just stayed in all weekend and baked and stuff. less of the stuff and more of the baking actually.

it rained all day saturday, so i tried out a recipe for sugar cookies that my sister-in-law sent me, as well as some royal icing sugar icing. that was a first and a messy adventure. but it worked out alright!

today i made a second batch of cookies, (put the right amount of milk in this time) and made my icing red and green!

it started out super gross and rainy today, but then it cleared up.

i went for a walk to pick up some things.
i love that i can find palm trees in this city.

i got food writers!
yes, i get to colour my cookies. so much fun!!
i get to do todays batch tomorrow when it hardens!!!

after all that, i had my first full glass of egg nog. none of the egg nog chai business, just the full on real deal. (i was looking up recipes today Dave, and that is what you could have used your egg yolks for...)

Yeah, I was thinking about making egg nog with all those yolks, but the recipe I really want to try also involves using the whites. Instead I made a super thin omelette/crepe thing with rosemary and this garlic/habeƱero sauce I bought at the Granville Island market, then folded it up and put it in a bagel. Pretty tasty.

Also, those cookies look pretty good!
